CWG 2022: Commonwealth Games 2022 Indian players continue their stellar performance. India won the silver medal in the mixed team badminton event on the fifth day of the Commonwealth. Gold was expected against Indian players in the final match. But they suffered a 1-3 loss at the hands of Malaysia. After this defeat, India had to be content with silver in badminton. Malaysian team defeated India in the final for the second time in a row at the Commonwealth Games.

Gayatri Gopichand and Trisha Jolly lost in women’s doubles. Gayatri-Trisha was defeated by Pierre Ten and Muraleedharan Thinna 21-18, 21-17. After this Kidambi Srikanth also had to face defeat in the men’s singles match. Ng Yong defeated Srikanth 21-19, 6-21, 21-16.

PV Sindhu played brilliantly in the women’s singles match and defeated Goh Jin Wei 22-20 in the first game. PV Sindhu won the second game 21-17 to level the match at 1-1. But India had to face defeat in the women’s doubles.

India defeated arch-rivals Pakistan 5-0 in their first match. Then in the second match also under the captaincy of PV Sindhu, India defeated Sri Lanka 5-0. After this, in the third match, India defeated Australia and made it to the quarter-finals. India entered the semi-finals after defeating South Africa in the quarter-finals. India sealed their place in the final after beating Singapore 3-0 in the semi-finals. In the semi-final match, India’s Satwiksairaj Rankireddy and Chirag Shetty won the doubles match. After this, in the second match, two-time Olympic medalist PV Sindhu defeated Jia Min in straight games. After this, in the third match, Indian youth player Lakshya Sen defeated Loh Keen Yu 21-18, 21-15 to confirm India’s place in the final.
