According to market research and analyst firm Techarc, premium smartphone sales in India are set to witness a huge growth this year, with iPhones expected to exceed 7 million (70 lakh). iPhone and Android smartphones combined, are expected to sell about 162 million (16.2 crore) phones in the country in 2022. The research firm estimates that iPhone sales will grow 140 times since 2008, while Android smartphones have recorded growth. Reaching 49 times for the same period.

“Even though iPhone is not a mass market smartphone, it has received extraordinary love and acceptance in India,” said Techarc. The firm’s report also mentions that iPhone has successfully added 10 million (1 crore) user base in the last six years.
The Cupertino-based tech giant unveiled a new lineup of smartphones and other products on Wednesday. At the ‘Far Out’ event, Apple introduced the iPhone 14 series of smartphones, which will be available from September 16.
